I’ve been a Reiki master and teacher for over sixteen years now, and in that time I’ve taught hundreds of people Reiki. My Reiki training has been a long and wonderful journey! My first teacher was Sharon Wilsie, a shaman and energy worker form Vermont who teaches in the Unlimited school of Reiki. Her teacher was Guruatma Singh Khalsa. Sharon also had some training with Pat Warren who is also a fabulous Reiki teacher; I count myself lucky to be part of her lineage.
My lineage is most closely related to Diane Stein’s lineage, which is a little unorthodox and not a straight line through the Reiki Alliance. I’m a Reiki mutt and sort of proud of it. I’ve also been trained in Karuna Reiki, although I don’t teach it. If you’re looking for a pure Usui lineage, I’m probably not the right teacher for you, although I’m sure if we went back far enough, we could all trace our teachers to the same beginning point eventually!
Like many Reiki teachers, I’ve developed my own way of teaching that comes from working with a lot of clients. I see an average of twenty clients a week and have done so for the past fifteen years. That’s a lot of
clinical experience. Eleven thousand, two-hundred and fifty sessions if you do the math! The way that I work and teach now comes more from my clinical experience than from what I learned through my linage, although I honor and respect my teachers very much.
I also work as a psychic and have done so since I was 19 years old. I have a background in counseling and psychology so I use psychic work, Reiki, and counseling with my clients. It’s my own unique mash-up.
My opinion on Reiki is that it’s meant to evolve and change as we learn and teach it. Many wonderful teachers have blended Reiki with whatever else their interests have given them expertise in, and so now there are many different kinds of Reiki being taught all over the world! I see this as a very good thing, and I know that for each aspiring Reiki student, there’s a teacher out there teaching exactly the kind of Reiki that they need to learn.
For the past fifteen years, I’ve also been teaching psychic development classes. I specialize in training psychics, empaths, and healers in how to use all those gifts together.
